After contracting tuberculosis, Arthur quietly succumbs to his illness at sunrise (or is killed by Micah if you manage to finish the game with less honor). In the epilogue our hero dies, control is returned to John Marston and it is with this original gunslinger that you will experience a heartbreaking scene.
Located east of Donner Falls and northeast of Bacchus Station in Embarino, players will find Arthur’s tomb on a hill overlooking the valley below. Faced with a rock and surrounded by flowers, John Marston will reach his final resting place during the epilogue.
Once here, a slow and melancholic version of immovable D’Angelo will almost walk on the wind as John draws a quick sketch in his heirloom journal. On the black page, John draws Arthur’s grave and captions it with the words “I think we’re almost done, my friend.” It’s been quite a journey.”
Acting as a message to both Arthur and the player, this moving scene is a touching tribute to Arthur Morgan, who many believe is one of the greatest video game characters of all time.
