Reasons to send former Miami-Dade School Board Vice President Luby Navarro to prison
Authorities arrested Lubi Navarro, former vice president of the Miami-Dade, Florida school board, for making more than $100,000 worth of personal purchases using credit cards from School District 7, where she was a member.

An arrest warrant issued by a court judge indicates that Navarro purchased items and merchandise that were not associated with the school, said prosecutor Fernandez Rundle.
Credit cards, called P cards, are issued to school board members for use in times of need or for the purpose of purchasing small items.
According to prosecutor Rundle, the investigation against Navarro began after she resigned from her position in December 2022.
“Miss Navarro left her position on the school board in December 2022. Their pending credit card processing expired in January 2023. Invoices and statements need to be reconciled, something that is usually done by the board members themselves. Board of Directors. But in this case she had already left and they hadn’t reconciled, (the school board) had a lot of doubts,” the prosecutor explained.
“The Administrator’s Office proceeded to sort through the outstanding paperwork and an initial view that month showed over $13,000 in purchases made at retail stores…including Walmart, Office Depot,…TJ Maxx…the office was then contacted. . of the Miami Dade Inspector General,” he adds.
