PSG-Real Sociedad, a cascade of injuries

A week before their trip to the Parc des Princes, Real Sociedad took stock of their infirmary.

We’ve grown accustomed to seeing Paris Saint-Germain hit with injuries to some of its officials during the Champions League round of 16 in recent years. For once, it is alongside the capital club’s opponents, Real Sociedad, that the infirmary is currently overcrowded.

The Basque club also spoke about his weekend injuries this Monday morning. The news is not good for striker Carlos Fernandez, who is out for several weeks with an injured meniscus and has been forced to undergo surgery. Right-hander Alvaro Odriozola is also dealing with a hyperextended right knee, while rookie Sheraldo Baker is dealing with a thigh injury.

Kubo returns

For these three players, Real Sociedad does not give a return deadline. But we can already note Carlos Fernandez as a package for a trip to Paris. This is also the case for left-backs Ahn Munoz and Kieran Tierney, which led the Basque club to immediately recruit Javi Galan (Atletico).

Odriozola can be considered uncertain for the duel against PSG, at least, like Becker, for the moment. On the other hand, the news is good for captain Mikel Oyerzabal, who was released earlier this week in La Liga after suffering a setback. And Real Sociedad will be able to recover its internationals Take Kubo and Hamari Traore, who have been ruled out of the CAN and Asian Cup.
