Nurse missing for 9 years found dead in freezer

The body of Mary Margaret Haxby-Jones was found inside a freezer in her home in San Diego, California last December. The mystery revolves around the fact that nothing was heard from the woman for several years and no one reported her missing, details below.

Mary worked as a nurse anesthetist in San Diego for nearly 20 years, retiring in 1999.

“A lot of this investigation is trying to figure out what we can do about it,” Lt. Jude Campbell said. “There’s a lot of gaps we’re still trying to fill.”

According to published reports, authorities found the woman’s body in a house on Zion Avenue after receiving a report of death.

Some of the family members who currently live in the house visit her and when the new tenants move in, they find a body inside the freezer that was already in the house.

It should be noted, those visitors are related to the current occupant of the house, not Haxby-Jones.

While there were no obvious traumatic injuries on the body, police are investigating the case as a suspicious death.

According to Campbell, no arrests have been made. He said no welfare check has been requested for Haxby-Jones.

The current occupant of the house declined to answer questions from the press.

“We just want to get information to help us understand what happened here,” Campbell said. “Even when the medical examiner is doing his job.”

The discovery of the woman, who would be around 80 years old, has caused an uproar in the sector, as many people claim that it is not normal that this body is inside that refrigerator and no one noticed it.
