The Olsen twins strike me as slightly more mythical creatures than unicorns. From time to time, he will appear in public as if summoned by a spell to promote his quiet luxury brand, The Row, and its $5,600 bag. Or, if you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of Ashley double-fisting a machete and beer while on a hike, akin to seeing a Sasquatch. But apart from that? Tough luck, kid.
To see the three sisters, then – Mary-Kate and Ashley, both 37, and their younger sister Elizabeth, 34 – is a miracle of biblical and/or astrological proportions. And that’s exactly what the paparazzi gods gave us on Tuesday night, delivering photos of not two, but three Olsens together in New York, according to E! News. The entertainment site estimates that the last time such a public outing took place was about seven years ago, when all the sisters attended the annual LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles.
The twins, meanwhile, were photographed together in public in Manhattan last November, shortly after Ashley gave birth to her son Otto with husband Louis Eisner. They reportedly both wore black sunglasses and crocodile bags, because some things — like being twins and being like twins — never change.
See, it’s hard to get myself out of the house without international fame, a child-star background, some chill and unknown superhero starring roles, or even an equally-famous kid soon. So, I totally understand why any and all Olsen sisters would want to keep six down every seven years. If I were that rich, I’d probably be lounging around my pied-à-terre in this $8,900 Jilly jacket, too. Either way, hope they had fun reminiscing and maybe singing “I’m the Cute One” all the way home.
