There is still tension in Washington. Joe Biden warned Republican elected representatives of the House of Representatives on Tuesday that “history (will) be the witness” if they decide to torpedo $60 billion in aid to Ukraine that the Senate just approved. The Democratic president called on conservative lawmakers to distance themselves from his predecessor Donald Trump, slamming his rival’s recent “foolish” and inappropriate” comments about NATO.

The Kremlin is upset with Estonia. Russia on Tuesday launched wanted notices against at least three officials from the Baltic states and three Poles, including Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, against the backdrop of a monumental conflict between the former communist bloc and Moscow. The Kremlin cited opposing views of history held by Moscow and these states to justify the decision. This is the first time Russia has issued a wanted notice against a sitting foreign leader since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Ukrainian heritage is in danger. The war in Ukraine has caused $3.5 billion in damage to the country’s heritage and cultural sector and $19 billion in lost revenue in entertainment, arts and tourism, UNESCO estimated on Tuesday. To arrive at these amounts, UNESCO identified nearly 5,000 sites destroyed by the Russian invasion of February 2022, with 341 cultural sites damaged – up from 248 in April 2023.
