“It should be removed from the game” Some players believe that this very important option ruins the spirit of LoL.
After the rest of this announcement
In League of Legends, when you think the game is lost, and there is little or no hope of turning the game around, you have the option to surrender. Famous F.F. You can also dodge the game in the first minute when one of your teammates is AFK, an option that came to the game in 2022 and that delights players. A few years ago, a faster surrender was implemented (15 minutes instead of 20).
While it’s hard to imagine a MOBA without this option, some believe it ruins the spirit of the game. So much so that they want to remove it completely.
Is FF culture out of control?
It was on Reddit that a player asked this question, based on a clip of Jankos, a pro player who holds the jungler position for Team Heretics. When he is fed with his Nidalee and his team is in front, his team decides to surrender.
To fully understand the state of the game, a player takes stock of the various elements of the game. Jankos’ team has destroyed more turrets, more kills, more dragons, one player on feed, their T1 mid is still standing, while no one on the other side is on feed. In such a situation, few players would think of surrendering. We more than understand the reaction of Jankos who is quite annoyed to see his 4 teammates hitting the FF button without batting an eyelid. For him, and for many, the game was largely winnable.
How to explain such a situation?
One player made an interesting point in the comments:
Surrendering so easily will lead to ego problems, if I don’t win my individual match, none of my team will. A simplistic reflection that would therefore be at odds with the game itself, as LoL is above a team sport. A view shared by many members of the community.
So most FF votes will be a result of player frustration, and not based on the actual state of their game. However, it seems impossible to eliminate this option, because, although it is obviously used incorrectly in many situations, it remains essential when the game is really lost. Unless of course you start with the premise that any game is attractive…
And what do you think? Is FF culture real? And if so, do you think it’s really gotten out of control?
