Inside the 2024 National Board of Review Awards Gala
Awards season is just getting underway for Hollywood’s fresh face Da’Vine Joy Randolph, who has everyone talking after winning a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Mary Lamb. Holdovers.
But she is handling everything thrown at her like a pro. On the long red carpet for the National Board of Review Gala, she graciously spoke to every media outlet even when it was time to take a seat for dinner. Randolph finally went barefoot as her publicist held up her black suede heels.

“We’ve got a beautiful history of theater stories,” Dumezweni said, adding more details about their friendship. “We met sometime long ago. So she asked me to come tonight.
It was the duo’s first time at the gala held at Cipriani’s 42nd Street.
“This is huge! I had no idea how huge it was,” Michael J. Dumezweni added about the event after seeing stars like Foxx, Jessica Chastain, Elizabeth Olson, Laura Linney, Bradley Cooper, Paul Giamatti and Anne Hathaway walk the carpet.
NBC anchor Willie Geist hosted the ceremony celebrating the art of cinema, which for the first time recognized outstanding achievement in stunt artistry. Other 2024 honorees include Martin Scorsese, Mark Ruffalo and Lily Gladstone, along with Cooper, Fox and Giamatti.
“They say the Golden Globes is the biggest party but it’s on TV so people are a little reserved,” Geist told the Observer when asked about hosting. “There are no rules. People tear it up. They have fun with their friends. Some of his best friends are giving him the award. It’s the best night of awards season.”
Anne Hathaway introduces Bradley Cooper (Master) with the Icon Award. They became friends in the epidemic when Cooper invited Hathaway’s family over for pizza, which she says she made herself. “As I watched Bradley make pizzas for twenty adults and countless screaming children—never breaking his rhythm, focus, or connection with whoever he was talking to—I was struck by what a rare creature Bradley is, ” she told the crowd.

For Randolph, who was also nominated for a SAG Award this week, it’s clear from her reception at the NBR Gala that people are paying attention. Geist confirmed it before walking into the ballroom: “She’s exploded now and deserves it all.”
