This is the topic that has worried Ukrainians in recent weeks: How will the army manage to mobilize the 500,000 extra people needed to stand up to Russia? On Wednesday 7 February, Parliament voted on the controversial bill at first reading. It gives the first directions. The age of mobility is 27 to 25 years. Those who have been fighting since the beginning of the war hoped to finally be freed; It’s a cold shower.
Inna is in her thirties. She demonstrated for weeks so that her husband could finally be demobilized. Like all people who have been fighting since the beginning of the war, he is physically and mentally exhausted. Inna saw her hopes dashed: she would not come home. According to this bill, all these men will have to stay at least one year more: “How long do they have to live? Until they die, right? This is the destruction brought on by the government itself!”
Inna is upset with the authorities. He also resents those who offer bribes to escape from the army and looks down at his 8-year-old son: “He said to me once, and it shocked me, ‘Mom, why didn’t we do anything to stop Dad from going there?’ What can we say in response?” She concludes: “If her father has to fight another year, they may never see each other again.” The law still has to pass a second reading in parliament. Changes may occur. But Inna gave up hope.
