For Karmine, honor is safe
Last in the LEC rankings and close to exiting before this third week of competition, Carmine Corp did not long dream of a crazy scenario: on Saturday, against Rogue, the penultimate, it let the final slip away. A chance to watch the drama -off and if there was a fine margin between elimination and humiliation at times, KC still defended honors against BDS, the two teams at the top of the table after SK Gaming. Released from pressure, his players showed a completely different face, dominant, in control.
Absence of leadership, difficult drafts to play, no common direction, tension, and maybe a little, even, lack of application at times: the flaws to explain this difficult first three weeks of adventure in the LEC are numerous and shared at all levels. However, there will inevitably be regrets after this disastrous start to show the club’s many disillusioned fans that they can hope for better. Some things will need to be improved, but now there is a foundation that allows us to hope for better things in the spring. A few weeks of training should strengthen it.
Snape, big fail
While Rogue managed to keep Larsson, who was in high demand during the off-season, the club will remain with Carmine Corp in the LEC’s standings for the rest of the competition. Big failure there too. If his five defeats KC on Saturday after only one victory in six matches over the last three days, he lost a fearsome clash against GIANTX this Monday evening. A duel that defines who will survive or not. Far from what we could hope for in this game from a formation that was nonetheless solid on paper, Rogue, aside from being thin against G2, never made the team. French rookie Theo “Zoelis” Le Skorneck and his teammates will have something else to show in the spring.
G2 and Fnatic, always on top
It was the match of the weekend, the “classic” of the LEC between the two most successful clubs in the league and priority for the trophy this season: G2 and Fnatic, on Sunday evening, clashed at a very high level, undoubtedly the best match of this regular season. After about 40 bloody minutes (but thanks to the brilliance and active style of both teams), Rasmus “Caps” Winther – who reminded everyone why he was the best player on the continent – and G2 finally emerged victorious. First in the rankings, the defending champion is gaining momentum and will be a major contender for victory this winter. But Fnatic confirmed he would be a customer.
Vitality – SK Gaming and BDS – Heretics in the first round of play-offs
After a good start to the season (three wins in three matches), SK Gaming experienced further difficulties (two wins in the following six matches) and will still have a difficult first round of the finals against an erratic but decent vitality… and capable of everything, esp. In BO3, in this LEC that is actually very balanced behind G2 and BDS. On the same side of the tree, the French trio of BDS will take on the Heretics, who have been unable to win a single match this week.
At the top of the table, G2 will face GIANTX. Finally, MAD Lions KOI, stronger than some thought at the start of the season after numerous changes to the team and the arrival of four rookies, will oppose Fnatic.
