Arcane Ambassador Medarda is set to move into League of Legends in Season 14

League of Legends Season 14 will see a lot of arcane-inspired updates with the developers looking to kick things off with the Noxian, Embassa Medarda. Those familiar with the Runeterra-based Netflix series Arcane will be very familiar with Mel’s estranged mother and the kind of presence she was able to establish on the show despite her limited screen time.

Riot Games previously announced that Arcane would be canonized for League of Legends and the wider Runeterra lore, and starting with Season 14, they’ll be looking to make things more cohesive in terms of champion VGU and their backgrounds.

Embassa Medarda will be the first such champion to enter the Rift in the new season, and League of Legends will get its second Noxus-based champion since Briar.

League of Legends Ambassador Medarda: Expected Release Window and Playstyle

Riot Games has yet to provide an official release date for Medarda, however, in their very recent 2024 roadmap video, they mentioned that Noxion will arrive sometime in Season 14.

While the first new champion ADC to hit Rift in 2024 is Smolder, Medarda could be pushed back to mid-2024 or even later depending on how many champions the team has planned.

According to the roadmap, the Champions team is also working on a Vastyan solo laner, which is going to be a mid-range mage. Riot previously worked on the Champion concept, however, which eventually turned out to be Sylas, which was released in 2019.

Now that the team is back on track, there’s a chance that Vastyan Mage can wreak havoc before Mederda does.

When talking about the playstyle and kit that Medarda Riot will drop with Medlar notes,

“Don’t let her large size fool you though. She brings both strength and speed, sidestepping attacks with surprising agility.”

In Arcane Ambassa is described as a powerful warrior and ruler in Noxus. So, it’s very likely that she’ll be coming with a similar kit to Darius, but with a bit more mobility at her disposal.

Embassa will be the first piece of Arcane to come to League this year, and will be Riot’s way of celebrating Arcane Season 2 which is set to release in November 2024.
