At a press conference, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) spokesman Craig Cummings said that They found a child’s backpack near Livingston Lake.
“There were other things found, but we’re not going to speculate on what they were. That’s all part of the investigation we’re doing right now,” Cummings said.
The backpack was found in the area where they held a press conference on Thursday, February 15, a wooded area south of Lake Livingston.
“I’m not sure where it was found. Our investigators are looking into it now,” Cummings said, “but we know it was down on the dam and it was wet.”
They added that the evidence they have collected indicates that there may be people responsible or involved in the disappearance of little Audrey.

Mr. Steve McDougall is a “person of interest” in the case
The main person of interest in the case is Don Steve McDougall, 42, who was arrested on the night of Friday, February 16, but on charges unrelated to the disappearance.
This Saturday morning, the Texas Department of Public Safety announced that they are looking for a blue 2003 Chevrolet Suburban pickup truck, which is McDougal’s car.
For this reason, McDougal is designated as a person of interest and one of the people involved in the disappearance of Audrey Cunningham.
So far, McDougall faces unrelated assault charges and was arrested by the Polk County Sheriff.

More than 48 hours have passed since the search for Little Audrey, which has gathered the FBI, Texas Rangers and local sheriffs in the area around Lake Livingston.
In the latest update from the DPS they have said that they will not release any further information to avoid compromising their investigation into the case.
They added that they had conducted several searches on the same day they disappeared at night, as well as on Friday, February 16, and now at 5:00 a.m. they have resumed work.
“This investigation is still active and ongoing,” they reiterated when asked for more clues in the case.
