A 42nd Frenchman has been identified among the October 7 victims
The list of victims is growing. France’s foreign ministry announced Thursday that the 42nd Frenchman has been identified among those killed in Israel by the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas on Oct. 7, the starting point of the war in Gaza.
“Unfortunately, we have been forced to raise the number of French victims of the attack (October 7, editor’s note) to 42. We recently learned that a dual citizen, whose French nationality we were unaware of, was among the victims,” a Kai d’Orsay spokesperson revealed during a press briefing.
Three French people are still being held hostage
He gave no indication of the victim’s age or the circumstances of his death and recalled that the three Frenchmen were “still hostages in the Gaza Strip”.
On October 7, Hamas commandos launched an unprecedented attack on Israeli soil, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,140 people, mostly civilians, according to an AFP count based on official data.
In retaliation, Israel vowed to “destroy” Hamas and launched a massive military operation that killed 25,700 Palestinians, mostly women, children and teenagers, according to the Islamic Movement’s health ministry.
