Today marks the release The Last of Us Part II Remastered, the original and remastered version of the second opus of the Naughty Dog saga on PS5. The studio confirmed earlier in the year that the game would be available to owners of the first game on PS4 for around ten euros, whether it was the physical or digital version.

And apparently, if we are to believe the message sent to some of them yesterday, Sony wants to prevent the concerned players from spending too much of their money.

Sony reimburses players who have paid full price

This week, players who pre-ordered the game for the full price of 49.99 euros received a message from Sony saying that their purchase would be refunded. The reason? They already had the PS4 version of the game on their account and so could get it The Last of Us Part II Remastered For only 10 euros.

This is a very rare act to be noticed and not at all mandatory for Sony, which at the same time, protects itself from the numerous refund requests that its customer service may receive in the coming days.

For comparison, like a game Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy No such update is offered, as it requires the purchase of the Deluxe Edition for 84.99 euros to hope to play it on PS4 and PS5.

A reminder of the update process

If you have the PS4 version The Last of Us Part IIThen the process to follow is ultimately very simple:

  • For the digital version of the game: go to the game page on the PlayStation Store to pay 10 euros for the update
  • For the boxed version of the game: Insert the disc from the PS4 version of the game into your PS5 to get the remastered version. The disc will be required to play the game even after the update.

Note that it’s also possible to transfer your PS4 saves to the PS5 version, either through your PlayStation account or via a USB key.
