In recent weeks, hundreds of people have discovered secret messages in the packaging of everyday consumer products. It all started in Sugarloaf County in late December with a certain Joe Miller, who was surprised to find a note slipped into a sealed box of Lucky Charms brand cereal.
In the message, strange and disjointed comments referencing conspiracy theories and current events, peppered with numbers, letters and symbols with no apparent meaning.
But that was just the beginning: Joe Miller’s interview by a local television channel started an avalanche of testimonies from other people who found similar messages in the packaging of various products: chocolate, eye drops, confectionery, etc.
A secret code?
Even more curious, a note clearly from the same hand and the same treacherous mind was discovered by chance attached to a tree by a hiker in a national park: “But who would take the time to wind a little wire through a tree and attach this note with a paper clip, ” she marveled. “It’s just scary.”
But could these mysterious phrases have a hidden meaning? Spencer Rappaport, a computer scientist in the affected area, is convinced: “There is something to understand. They are like scattered pieces of a puzzle. »
Police call for vigilance
But, for now, the police are calling for vigilance and trying to solve another mystery: How did the author of these messages manage to slip them into the hermetically sealed box? Does it work in packaging factories at points of sale or further upstream? How did he or his associates manage not to be seen by anyone? Furthermore, might it not also introduce toxins or toxic products?
