Nvidia’s artificial intelligence project, called ACE, has been revealed a bit more through a technical demonstration during CES 2024.

CES 2024 is an opportunity for everyone to come and present their technological skills and artificial intelligence is no exception.. Manufacturer Nvidia decided to conduct a technical demo of ACE (Avatar Cloud Engine), its AI during the show that makes it possible to improve the realism of NPCs in video games. With this tool, it is possible to chat more or less naturally with characters not controlled by the players through the microphone. It is not really surprising when you know that at the moment, artificial intelligence is becoming more and more popular among the general public.

The Nvidia tool allows you to create more realistic NPCs. During the demonstration, people were able to talk to Nova and the chefs of the ramen restaurant. After the question, it takes a few seconds to get the answer. Each character can be configured to speak several languages, such as English or Spanish, and it is the developers who provide the data, usually quite current, to integrate them into the dialogues. NPCs can also feel different moods which can be inferred by their facial expressions and the way they speak. Note few errors at times. The future for video games hints at a big addition.

Worrying progress?

During this JV fast, the editorial team wondered how this technology would be used. Nvidia has already announced partnerships with some big studios like Ubisoft, miHoYo (which looks after Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail), Netize Games, Inworld and Chinese giant Tencent. ACE looks full of promise, but it seems complicated at the moment to replace the skills of real professionals.

Although the studio has had access to it for a few months now, it seems that using this new technology is a real headache. The interest is to combine human skills with AI and train employees so that they can use it more easily and naturally. Perhaps it’s also up to programmers to determine the limits of their own technology, when we know that Nvidia’s artificial intelligence can generate animations and lip synchronization based on spoken sentences itself. If you’re wondering what limits should be imposed on AI so that it doesn’t take precedence over human expertise, Pantha and Ungund give you a start on the answer in this JV fast..
