A big shock in the world of athletics. Some Kenyan media, incl standardMarathon record holder Calvin Kiptum has reportedly died.

Media reports that an athlete died in a car accident in Kenya. The incident reportedly took place this Sunday, February 11, around 11 pm, near Kaptagat in the east of the country. Their Rwandan coach Gervais Hakizimana also died in the accident.

In October 2023 Calvin Kiptam caused a sensation when he broke the marathon record on a course in Chicago, Illinois (United States). He completed this distance in 2 hours and 35 seconds. Specifically he was to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
