In the build-up to The Last of Part II that Naughty Dog Studios has just announced, game and series creator, Neil Druckman, paves the way for sequels in either the game or the TV series. Spin Off or The Last of Us Part III? It is unclear…
A year and a half after the release of the remastered version of The Last of Us On PS5, Naughty Dog recently released its sequel in Arena, The Last of Us Part II, benefiting from the same preferential treatment. A brilliant new setting, for the second part which is an absolute masterpiece.
Refining its recipe with a precision worthy of a Swiss watchmaker, Naughty Dog delivers a game – released in 2020 – of absolutely incredible visual and visceral power, taking the player through absolutely insane emotional elevators.
In the vein of what Santa Monica Studios did, which aired in 2019, a year after the release of its extraordinary reboot of God of War, a mammoth 2-hour production that left no stone unturned from the mountains. The trouble with bringing Kratos back to life, the mischievous dog recently aired on YouTube Grounded II: The Making of the Last of Us Part II.
“It’s always been a small story.”
A fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the making of TLOU 2, without filters. Neil Druckman, the game’s creator, gives some details about the story below The Last of Us Part IIwhich will focus on Joel’s brother Tommy Miller.
“I did another interview where someone asked me about The Last of Us and if there were going to be other stories, or something like that.” says Druckmann. “And I mentioned that we’ve written a story that takes place after The Last of Us 2 and stars Tommy, and I hope one day we can make that happen.
Industry headlines read: “Naughty Dog Presents The Last of Us Part 3!” And that is actually wrong. It has always been a small story. It was never the perfect title. At the time, we had higher priorities at Naughty Dog, such as (…) solving our work-life balance issues (…), I didn’t want to prioritize this story. So this story was shelved. I still believe that one day it will see the light of day. I don’t know if it will be a game or a TV series.”

The Last of Us Part III?
The creator of the game therefore, apparently, delays a little, without insulting the future. “If we never manage to start again, if we don’t make another creation, it doesn’t matter, we end up at a good end point. (…) The advantage of working in a studio is that Naughty Dog is the third game we need to do. not
Of course they do (Editor’s note: fans) Wanted us to do another Last of Us, but management released us. If we are passionate about another idea, they will support us. We are in a very privileged position. And never take it for granted.”
Still, before a very imaginative spin off The Last of Us, in a video game or in a TV series, not to mention The Last of Us Part III, which fans are calling for, Season 2 of the series airing on HBO won’t arrive before 2025… Yes, that’s still a long way off. All the more reason to make (or redo) another video game piece in the meantime.
