How Much Does an Air Force Mechanic Make?
Angels, who is currently based in Italy, explains that people in the army are not paid according to activities or hours worked, but according to their rank. “I’m an enlisted person, an E3 and I have less than two years of service,” she explains, showing the list, so her basic monthly salary is US$2,259.90. However, mechanics explain that gains are added to this amount.
For an exercise to show how much she earns as a mechanic in the United States Air Force, Angeles López Galindo shows some pay stubs from the year 2023, as she does not yet have documents from 2024. She explains that she receives such benefits as:
-A basic subsistence allowance, called Basic Allowance for Subsistence (BAS) in English, is an amount earmarked for food.
-Basic housing subsidy, called Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH).
– Compensation for difficult living conditions, known as Hardship Duty Pay-location (HDP-location).
– Compensation for the cost of living, called a cost-of-living allowance (COLA).
