Announced on July 23, 2020, a few months before the release of the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One was still waiting for Xbox Games Showcase 2023 to offer its first gameplay presentation. Today, a few months before its release, Obsidian’s RPG took advantage of the Xbox Developer_Direct to further reveal itself.
A universe already known to Pillars of Eternity players
Avoided is a role-playing game that takes place in the fantasy world of Eora, a universe already featured in the Pillars of Eternity franchise. In this single-player, first-person game, the player takes on the role of a character sent by a distant country, Edir, to investigate rumors of a plague outbreak.
An island called the Living Lands is full of secrets and mysteries, dangers and adventures, choices and consequences. This unique place is made up of many landscapes and environments, each with its own ecosystem.
Gameplay aside, swords, spells, guns, and shields will be perfect companions to face the dangerous creatures that inhabit the island.
A new gameplay presentation for Avoved
This evening, Avowed’s gameplay presentation focuses on the customization of weapons and the combination between them, we can see, in particular, a magic wand, pistol, shield or ax that we can use to capture the fight as we wish.
Who says obsidian, tells the importance of narration, so each character will have their own voice, like our protagonist, bringing more life to the exchange. This, like missions and quests, will sometimes force the player to make difficult choices.
Avowed promises us to explore a variety of biomes in a rich universe, all available this fall exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PC. The game will apparently be available in Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
