Three years after the release of the last game, Naughty Dog has officially confirmed the development of The Last of Us: Part 3. Neil Druckmann broke the news in the final minutes of a recently released documentary, and seeing as how the announcement was somewhat unusual. Back to another game development. The director explains that, although it took him a while to come up with the idea to continue the franchise, he finally found a “concept” to work with. According to him, the TLOU3 is said to be in the very early stages of development.
The Last of Us Part 3 is a reality
At the end of a two-hour documentary devoted to The Last of Us saga, Neill Druckman said:
Neil Druckmann explained why he was in no rush to make a new installment in the series after the success of the second game: “The great thing about working at Naughty Dog is that you don’t have to give anything away. It’s kind of like we want to make a new Last of Us, but if there’s anything “you’re passionate about someone else, we’re Will support him. It’s a privileged position, you should never take it.” To this explanation we must of course add the company’s other projects and the developer’s lack of concept, which he also published.
And when is it?
If we’re to believe Neil Druckman’s words, The Last of Us: Part 3 is still to come. A few years away. This raises many questions about the company’s next plans. The developer indicated that it is working on “a more ambitious new single-player game”. Assuming one of them will be this new episode of the TLOU series, it remains to be determined what other titles the studio has in development.
In the final minutes of the aforementioned documentary, Neil Druckmann also announced that a “small story” has already been written about The Last of Us universe that may see the light of day in the future. This is an adventure game Tommy which was postponed because Naughty Dog had other priorities at the time. Despite this, the creator expressed his desire to bring it to life: “I hope that one day it can see the light of day, whether it is in the form of a game or a series.”
