The film surprises again with an unlikely announcement

There have actually been video game adaptations for cinema that surprised everyone when they were announced. This is especially the case with Minecraft, whose casting is even more surprising.

The long-awaited Minecraft movie raises many questions. Indeed, it’s hard to imagine how a game that focuses on construction could benefit from a coherent film adaptation. To top it all off, the announcement of one of the first big names in the casting adds icing on the cake, highlighting the totally crazy and almost surreal side of the project. This we know.

The Minecraft movie is already pretty strong

So the Minecraft movie has just been enriched with a new famous actor: Jack Black. The actor has indeed confirmed his participation in the casting, joining Jason Momoa and Daniel Brooks, best known for playing Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad spin-off.

Jack Black is famous for his roles in School of Rock and most recently The Super Mario Bros. (voice of Bowser), shared a funny image on social networks where he is preparing for his role as Steve, one of the main characters of Minecraft. The image shows Blake reading a book titled “Minecraft Basics” (Minecraft for Dummies in French).

The Minecraft Movie, directed by Jared Hess of Napoleon Dynamite fame, promises to be an immersive cinematic experience that captures the spirit of the game loved by millions (and millions) of players. The cast looks impressive with Jason Momoa as the lead star, Daniel Brooks as Dawn and Sebastian Eugene Hansen as Henry. BAFTA and Critics’ Choice Award nominee Matt Berry, known for his roles in What We Do in the Shadows and The IT Crowd, also joined the project last May.

The announcement of Jack Black’s involvement, moving from the Super Mario franchise to Minecraft, highlights the growing enthusiasm for video game adaptations into films. Fun fact, we know Jack is a video game fan himself. On his YouTube channel, several years ago, he published a humorous video on a construction game with YouTuber PewdiePie.
