Kanye West sued for assault and battery by fan seeking autograph
A former fan of Kanye West is suing the multihyphenate artist for battery and assault over an alleged assault in January 2022.
According to TMZ, court documents show the man filed a lawsuit against West nearly two years ago in downtown Los Angeles, which was also captured on video.
The man claims West yelled, “I’m going to make an amazing example of you,” and made a reference to Kim Kardashian months before their divorce was finalized.
The 31-second footage shows an autograph seeker lying outside on the sidewalk in question, while West yells at a woman who says “I’m your family.”
He replies, “You were supposed to talk to him!” And the disagreements continue as the two walk into an alley with a small group of other people. Sources told TMZ in 2022 that the woman was West’s cousin.
The man added that he asked West for an apology, but the 24-time Grammy Award winner replied, “Apology for what?” before striking him repeatedly and “severely injuring him.”
West was allegedly told by a member of his gang to stop beating the man, but instead told them to “go to the flogging house and get my crap kids.”
The autograph dealer is suing West for damages, accusing him of assault and battery, which the man claims caused him emotional distress. The alleged victim refused medical care at the scene but later went to emergency treatment, the LAPD was also investigating the incident.
In addition, the man’s wife is also suing West for loss of consortium, saying she lost her husband because of the 2022 feud.
