“Unfortunately my father, Edgardo Mendoza, lost his life in an accident with his work truck. This is something we did not expect and we are devastated by his loss,” reported his daughter Pamela.
“CD Vida hereby communicates with players, friends and others who knew our friend, teammate and who share other aspects of Edgardo Mendoza’s life,” announced his team in the Durham Veterans League.
“See you soon, my other dad is gone,” Naham Aguilar departed.
Edgardo, or “Debora”, as he was called from an early age in his beloved Guacamaya, was the recognized leader of the Bureaucratic League in Honduras.
“He didn’t like young people doing bad things, so he supported them with uniforms, cleats and teaching soccer,” his former student and now friend Joel Rivera described in statements to LAPRENSA.HN.
” FC Guacamaya we will always remember you friends Edgardo Mendoza. May God give you eternal rest as I know he will because you were a beautiful person,” Rivera, who reached Real España’s reserves thanks to his support, had previously described it.
Edgardo’s family now wants to repatriate him to give him a Christian burial.
“Any contribution you can make, we would be very grateful,” his daughter wrote on Gofundme.
