Remember to wash your hands thoroughly! The seasonal flu epidemic has spread to all regions of France, as well as Corsica and large parts of overseas France, Public Health France announced on Wednesday 24 January. Bronchitis, which mainly affects children, continues to decline. As for Covid-19, the virus is still actively circulating, but the decline seen for several weeks continues.
The week of January 15 to 21 saw more intense circulation of the influenza virus “With an increase in positivity rates in the city and hospital. Activity in community medicine and indicators in emergency rooms were also increasing”, summarized the health agency in its weekly bulletin. In the hospital, the number of emergency room visits for illnesses such as the flu or influenza increased significantly (+61% in one week), as did the number of subsequent hospitalizations (+55%).
In France, all regions are now struggling with the flu, with Brittany and Normandy entering the epidemic phase in turn. Abroad, Martinique joined Guyana and Guadeloupe as regions completely affected by the epidemic. The only good news: Mayotte is already over with the flu season.
