The farmers of Ales launched “Operation Edouard” in reference to the maker of Leclerc stores.
This Wednesday morning, January 31, around thirty farmers from Ales and the surrounding area are meeting from 7:30 a.m. in front of the Leclerc store on the eastern Riu Ring Road. About ten tractors and agricultural machinery were used to block rue Gracchus-Bebeuf and reach the mass distribution store. Farmers named the blockade “Operation Édouard” in tribute to the company’s founder E.Leclerc.
“We decided to block this store because it is the one that annoys us the most. We hear them say in the media that it is the cheapest, but in the end we are the ones who are bleeding, after a while it is enough.” declare angry Alesian farmers. They work in viticulture, livestock, grain, fruit and vegetables and have arranged to meet through agricultural unions.
