If you are not one of the 17 million people with a national electronic identity card (CNIe), you will need to first register your physical CNI on the France Identity application to obtain its digital equivalent. Please note, this only works in bank card format, which is equipped with an ultra-secure electronic chip.
After this step, you have two options. Either you retrieve your Restricted Information Statement (RIR) on the My Permit Points website using your permit number, then you scan the QR code that appears on the document with the France Identity app. This technique is the only one possible at this time.
Alternatively, another option that will be available later in the year, you remotely query the Road Safety Delegation’s database. “Import (your) driving rights”. Your digital driving license will automatically arrive on your phone in both cases.
Physical and digital will co-exist
