What is your professional background?
Corinne Lesprilier. To begin with, it has nothing to do with it, I am a music teacher. Exhausted, I take care of an old man dying with me. I am 23 years old, I am neither trained nor ready. Later I was placed with children, I learned on the job again and then became a manager in a middle-class house. I was near Niort at the time, having spent my entire childhood in the Marais Poitevin.
The turmoil in my life makes me ask myself the right questions, and I tell myself that I no longer want to be on that side but on the other side because I no longer want unqualified people to work. We should stop underestimating domestic help, thinking that anyone can do it and get them into trouble.
I moved to Brittany and in 1997 I founded the Home Help Association where training was the key word. I moved in 2011 where we had 150 employees and over 500 families.
When do you arrive at the nursing home?
After that, I trained at IRTS in Rennes and I am preparing for Reos (responsible for social institutions). With that, I left Le Havre to a charming 112-bed nursing home. I stayed there for three years. An establishment management policy that does not help people at all, in the true sense of the word as I was trained.
In 2015, I returned to Marais Poitevin, I validated my acquired experience to become head of department, I applied to Adapei de la Charente and I entered Chalais working with people with mental disabilities. The flame doesn’t rekindle and I choose to be a crepe maker in Bagness!
But how do you get to Begnes Nursing Home?
During these four years of catering, I recruited two young girls, one of whom is the daughter of a nursing home nurse with whom I often discuss the establishment, and she tells me that the director is leaving… She talks to me very well. doing. The place, when I apply, I find myself in phase with the values that I hold.
How is this established?
The nursing home has 41 residents and 27 full-time equivalents. The establishment is doing well, there is very good support from the residents. The teams are strong and it’s a lot of fun to work here. Our residents are happy here, it is above all to live.
What did you do in six months?
Outsource the maintenance of residents’ linens, purchase an attached cart for drug distribution that allows security of the drug route. Big investments. We have also signed several partnerships with the mobile team of Barbezieux Hospital, the geriatrics team of the same institution, palliative care, we also welcome people on dialysis so we have established a partnership with the best practice team of the department, Angoulême Hospital. Which intervenes here to draft individual Aadhaar projects.
This allows us to create a link with the outside world. In fact, we are connected to everything that connects the sector, everyone can know, and we have resources specifically for training.
Does the establishment intend to expand or include other patients such as Alzheimer’s sufferers?
No, because it’s an open nursing home, we don’t want to put up barriers. So of course we take risks but all together, also with families. When we have someone who wants to leave, and when the family no longer agrees, we change institutions.
I’ve done a lot of work on Alzheimer’s disease, in truly adapted institutions with walking spaces, which we couldn’t build here, even if we had the budget. You need trained staff which will be difficult to recruit. We must consider the history of this establishment which was originally a residential house and was built with that in mind.
