The BCG vaccine, which protects children against tuberculosis, has not been mandatory for entry into the community since 2007. And the disease, characterized by severe lung infections, has sporadically reappeared in France. In Libourne, in the Gironde, a nursery school teacher was diagnosed with the disease. Parents learned of this by receiving an information letter from the Gironde department on January 30. “As of today, there is no longer any risk of contagion”In his letter mentions the department.
Some students at Garderos School in Lybourne who were in contact with this teacher were infected with the Koch bacillus bacteria which is spread through the air. To prevent the risk of contamination, they will be screened in accordance with the recommendations of the High Council of Public Health. An operation that typically involves taking a chest X-ray but which “To be effective must not be rushed”.
