Baldur’s Gate 3 players want to get rid of this “manipulative” character

In Baldur’s Gate 3 it is possible to invite several characters to your camp. However, throughout your adventure one particularly mysterious and manipulative character invites himself there.

It was only a matter of time, really. On January 20, a Baldur’s Gate 3 player took out his pen to slam the game’s most insufferable character in a lengthy Reddit post. This character is none other than the infamous Withered, who is found in a crypt at the beginning of the game and who will permanently settle in your camp, leaving you with no choice.

Wither is an important part of the game, as it serves as an interface for many features such as respec or mercenary recruitment. However, his services – paid for – go hand in hand with his arrogant attitude and his frustrating lack of clarity.

It makes sense for Arabella. After the death of her parents, she forces you to fight the chosen ones of the Dead Gods, and she spends a lot of time in the camp refusing to answer questions. Sure, she can resurrect Shadowheart after she dies for the fifth time in a row in the Shars Challenge, but is it really worth keeping her around?

Baldur’s Gate 3 players upset with Wither the “Manipulator”.

Many players have realized how frustrating Witherill is, with one stating on Reddit that he had it. “Enough of this manipulative ass.”

“First, he shows up at your camp uninvited with no intention of walking out, telling you it’s destiny when he’s clearly stalking you from the crypt.”

Then he inserts you and your team into countless horrors and the likes of three Gods, plus one honorable brain on steroids to fight, without knowledge of your risk or consent, and without the slightest regard for your health, mental health, or your safety.

He makes fun of you for not having relationships. He mocks you for having relationships. Not to mention his constant air of superiority as if he thinks he’s smarter than everyone else.”

The provocative Reddit post quickly brought together many Baldur’s Gate 3 players who didn’t miss the opportunity to humorously indict Withered. Some fans especially fear that the terrifying walking corpse will never leave our adventurers in peace, even after the game ends:

“We’re just a pawn in his cleanup operation to correct a mistake he made long ago that caused problems for the entire trilogy.”
