A snake was found mid-flight on an Air Asia flight

As Malaysian company AirAsia’s Airbus A320 was about to land at Phuket Airport in Thailand, passengers on flight FD3015 discovered that a snake was crawling above their heads… on top of the snake compartment. “When the reptile was spotted on the plane, some passengers quickly got up from their seats while others started filming”says the Malaysian daily The Star .

A video posted on TikTok on January 17 (over 550,000 views to date) actually shows an enthusiastic steward trying to transport the snake into a plastic bottle before the stunned eyes of passengers. in vain Flight attendants eventually managed to put him in a plastic bag. “After landing, ground security officials were asked to sweep the plane to see if there were any other snakes, but none were found”adds The Star.

The incident took place on January 13, a company spokesperson confirmed to CNN, describing the situation “Very rare which can happen from time to time in any aircraft”. “The Air Asia crew was well trained to handle this type of incident and evacuated the passengers from the area as a precaution”, he added to the American channel. However, the spokesperson did not specify what species of reptile it was nor how it came on board. Or without, well, what happened to him once he was captured.

This is not the first time that a snake has been spotted on an Air Asia flight. In February 2022, a reptile was spotted on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Sabah, Malaysia. The aircraft was diverted for an emergency landing. Again, the video showed the creature slipping through the plane’s light fixture.
