Fabio Lobo received payments to control Puerto Cortes

Tegucigalpa, Honduras. New York Prosecutor’s Office released a new document that reveals more details about the former president’s alleged relationship JUAN ORLANDO HERNANDEZ along with Drug trafficking.

In the main sections of the new documentation, mention of Fabio WolfThe son of former president Porfirio Lobo, identified by the prosecutor’s office as “CW-3.”

The prosecution points out that Lobo, who has been serving a 24-year prison sentence for drug trafficking since 2017, had exclusive access to high-level government officials in Honduras. This facilitated the criminal operations of cartels such as Los Cachiros.

Likewise, prosecutors argue that Fabio Lobo developed a close personal relationship with former President Juan Orlando Hernandez, which would have allowed him to obtain information and protection for Los Cachiros to facilitate drug trafficking into the United States.

“CW-3 supported Juan Orlando’s 2013 presidential run, running the campaign with proceeds from CW-3’s drug trafficking with Los Cachiros, paying multiple bribes to Juan Orlando of several hundred thousand dollars. CW-3 gave one of those bribes to a relative of Juan Orlando. CW-3 made another bribe directly to Juan Orlando after Juan Orlando told CW-3 that the then-director of the Honduran Defense Intelligence Agency (“CC-8”) could provide CW-3 with information to prevent CW-3’s debarment. 3 drug shipment,” the document states.

“Additionally, prior to the 2013 Honduran presidential election, CW-3 spoke with Juan Orlando about campaign contributions that Juan Orlando received from drug traffickers, including the Sinaloa Cartel,” it added.

In point 3 on page 7 of a 23-page document, the prosecutor’s office indicates that Fabio Lobo had a meeting in San Pedro Sula with ex-deputy Freddy Najera (sentenced to 30 years in prison for drug trafficking in the USA). A member of a high-ranking member of the Sinaloa cartel and an associate of Hugo Ardon (known as CC-1) to gain the support of the former president’s son to facilitate control Puerto Cortes For drug trafficking purposes.

The prosecutor’s office pointed out that Lobo received $150,000 to facilitate control of the Puerto Cortes port for drug trafficking.

“In or around 2012 or 2013, CW-3 had multiple meetings with Freddy Reynan Najera Montoya, a Honduran congressman and drug trafficker, CC-1, a high-ranking member of the Sinaloa Cartel, and an associate of CC-1. CW-3’s assistance in facilitating the control of Puerto Cortes – a port in Honduras – for drug trafficking purposes,” he begins by mentioning.

“CW-3 was paid about $150,000 to facilitate port control. During one of these meetings in San Pedro Sula, CC-1 told CW-3 that he would support Juan Orlando’s presidential campaign,” he adds.

Sentenced to 24 years in prison in 2017, Fabio Lobo will be one of the prosecution’s witnesses in the trial against former President Juan Orlando Hernandez, which begins on February 5 in New York’s Southern District Court.

Fabio Lobo was captured in Haiti on May 22, 2015, in a joint operation by Haitian police with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Lobo pleaded guilty on May 17, 2016 to conspiracy to import cocaine and was sentenced on September 5, 2017 to 24 years in prison plus five years of probation.

After his sentencing, Fabio Lobo requested a compassionate release from the United States justice system on January 29, 2021, due to fear of contracting Covid-19.

In a document sent to the Southern District Court handling the case of Juan Orlando Hernandez, he explained that he wanted to leave prison because of his health condition and his vulnerability to the epidemic.

In his letter, Lobo said he would be subject to immediate deportation to Honduras, where he would live with his sister.

Fabio Lobo’s conviction and incarceration record indicates that he is repentant and rehabilitated, and has taken many hours of education and vocational courses while in prison.

The Honduran is incarcerated in Florida’s Sumterville prison. The son of former President Porfirio Lobo will serve his full sentence on November 1, 2035.
