The world of carnival was thrown into mourning by a member of the Waka Chire band

This is news that freezes time and nearly scares the Waka Chire band members. During the night from Friday to Saturday, shortly after the end of their preparatory meeting for the upcoming parade, one of their members was killed in an accident. News that shakes the entire group but which reaches the other carnival groups to which Andy, nicknamed “Tom Posse”, gravitates. And more generally, it is the world of carnival that is touched by the death of a musician

One by one, they crossed the courtyard of the Waka Chire Band premises to find a place next to the first comers to the premises.
To tell the truth, they don’t really know what they’re doing there. But when a family is in mourning, its members come together to encourage each other.
However, the words are the same, and so is the attitude. Everyone has a moment, a gesture, a word, and above all, the sound of a conch in their mind, which recalls the presence of a “Tom Paws” who is no longer there to do it himself.

Andy, Catherine is one of those who knew him well. She has been with the group for 33 years since its formation. He joined them six years ago. So with her eyes closed, she could describe it, talk about it like an open book. And in his words, we understand a little more what the group lost with the death of this carnival enthusiast.

And they’re not the only ones to regret it. Since the announcement of his death, messages of condolence and support have flooded social networks. Some are more affected than others because, before joining Waka, Andy, a versatile musician, played in groups like “Vibrations” where he missed out. So for vaka, anjali is intended to be plural as well as singular.

At Waka, like Vibrations, we will not be participating in the guava parade this Sunday. And in the coming days we will see what we will do so that participating in the carnival is also a tribute to the dead.
