Maggots fall out of the luggage and invade the passenger’s head, causing the plane to overturn

A Delta plane flying from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Detroit in the United States capsized just an hour after takeoff on Tuesday. A passenger who was in economy class was seriously inconvenienced by maggots that fell on him from the overhead compartment, reports Independent.

Fish wrapped in newspaper

“She was panicking,” a Dutchman who lives in Iowa told Fox 2. “She was trying to fight off these maggots.” He said there were a dozen maggots hovering over the passenger. The chaos and panic created by the incident is also seen in the video published by Independent.

The flight crew tried to figure out where the critters could have come from. They actually fell out of hand luggage in which two fish were packed in newspaper. When the staff opened the bags, “everyone held their noses,” the Dutchman said.

The passengers were taken to another aircraft

The spoiled fish was transferred to the rear of the plane. Shortly after, the captain announced that the Airbus A330-300 would have to turn back to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Passengers could then take another flight. It was impossible to leave with the same device, which was sent for cleaning.

All passengers were compensated. They received 8,000 miles, payment for their hotel room and a $30 meal voucher. A passenger told the Daily Mail that the owner of the fish was identified and handled by flight attendants after other passengers disembarked.
