A father and his son in Texas An 18-year-old is accused of murdering a pregnant woman who had previously disappeared Christmas and her boyfriend, whose bodies authorities say were fatally shot in the head before being transported and found in a car days later.

The arrests Wednesday night came more than a week after the bodies were found Savannah Nicole Soto, 18, and Matthew Guerrera, 22were found in the parking lot of an apartment complex St. AnthonyA crime scene that the city’s police chief originally described as “very, very disturbing”.

San Antonio Police Sergeant Washington Moscoso told reporters His death appeared to be the result of a drug dealBut no further details were given.

Soto’s family has said she was overdue for labor and scheduled for an induced delivery when she disappeared the weekend before Christmas. Moscoso now said investigators They believe the couple was murdered on December 21That means he had been dead for several days before police found Guerra in his car the day after Christmas.

The murders have drawn attention outside of Texas, and Moscoso said “misinformation” about the case has taken off on social media.

“These two persons are the only suspects we were looking for,” he said.

Christopher Preciado, 19, was charged with capital murder, and his father, Ramon Preciado, 53, was charged with abuse of corpses for allegedly helping his son move the couple’s bodies, police said. Bexar County magistrate’s online records early Thursday did not indicate whether either of the men had an attorney, and San Antonio police did not immediately respond to phone and email messages.

As they loaded him into a patrol car Wednesday night, reporters asked Ramon Preciado if he had any remorse.

“Don’t you regret lying about what you say? You don’t even know what’s going on. You always make things,” Preciado said.

His son did not comment as police took him away in a separate vehicle.

Moscoso said prosecutors may file more charges against the men, whom he described as the only suspects in the murder. He said information about Savannah Soto’s cell phone found in the car led them to another vehicle seen in surveillance footage, which authorities announced last week would identify the people in the video.

That vehicle led police to a home where they found the father and son. He said Ramon Preciado answered the door and cooperated with the investigation.

“He knew why the police were there.”Moscoso said.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled both deaths homicides caused by gunshot wounds to the head. Moscoso did not specify where the killing occurred before the couple was taken to the apartment complex.

Soto had to go into induced labor at the hospital over Christmas weekend, her family told KENS-TV. But his mother said she got no answer when she knocked on the door of Soto’s apartment in the suburb of Leon Valley.

The family spent Christmas night searching the area and Leon Valley Police issued a missing person alert.
