From fear to bursts of joy, Didier Drogba shows in the stands during the final
Present in the stands of Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium, Ivorian legend Didier Drogba was filmed in all his states during the CAN final between Nigeria and Ivory Coast, won by the Ivorians this Sunday.
In a hell of a state. Didier Drogba fully experienced the Elephants match as he watched Sunday’s African Cup of Nations final between Nigeria and Ivory Coast at Ouattara Olympic Stadium in Alassane (2-1 victory).
Wearing his “CAN 2023” Flock jersey, Didier Drogba arrived to present the trophy to an Ivorian stadium packed with around 57,000 spectators. Many locals present welcomed him.
During the meeting, the Ivorian legend was first scared of a big chance from Simon Edingra, who made a wrong choice against Nwabali, deflecting at the near post (34th).
He then looked extremely annoyed when Nigeria made it 1-0 in the 38th minute thanks to William Troost-Ekong. Often filmed by local directors, Didier Drogba went through all the emotions before experiencing liberation.
Edingra headed in a corner in the 62nd minute, before literally exploding over Frank Casey’s goal.
However, the cameras did not catch Didier Drogba in the stands during Sebastian Heller’s 2-1 goal in the 81st minute. We saw him celebrate the Ivorian’s coronation at the final whistle, the Elephants’ goalkeeper leaping into his arms.
