Your tax refund could be higher this year. See how to achieve it

Tax season has begun in the United States and Americans must prepare their tax returns. The exact date for the start of tax season was Monday, January 29.

Important documents to collect include the W-2 and 1099 forms that companies have issued to their workers since the last days of January.

Americans who did not receive these forms by postal mail must claim them from their employers.

Residents must declare their tax liabilities for the previous year to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The last date for sending the tax return will be next April 15, 2024.

Residents of the states of Maine and Massachusetts will have until April 17 of this year.

The reason for this extension of the calendar for these states is the celebration of Patriot Day and Liberation.

Time Limits for Collection of Refunds and Credits

The IRS establishes another special extension for taxpayers who are in disaster areas or on military duty overseas. Users who need an additional period to submit taxes must request it before April 15.

However, payment of financial obligations must be implemented before April 15 to avoid sanctions being imposed.

Other states, such as Delaware, Iowa, Louisiana, and Virginia, establish different schedules for submitting state tax returns.

People who declare their taxes through the virtual site will be entitled to a refund within 21 days.

Citizens who have claimed Earned Income and Child Tax Credits will have to wait until mid-February to collect them. This payment is expected to reach the population before February 27 this year.
