After a World Cup interrupted by two historic defeats against France and New Zealand, Italy resumed its 2024 year with a defeat against England (24-27), but at the end of a more encouraging performance. Two tries from Alessandro Garbisi (11th) and Tommaso Allan (26th) led Transalpines for forty minutes.
Tougher in the physical challenge during the second act, Paolo Garbisi’s teammates showed themselves to be undisciplined and inaccurate, conceding too many penalties in key areas. Against him, XV de la Rose were practical, and regained the advantage thanks to a try from Alex Mitchell (44th). At the very end of the match, Italy earned a defensive bonus point thanks to a try by Lyon winger Monti Ioanni.
