You’ll never guess what happens next!

As a fan of pop culture and gaming, I know that we survival horror fans are always hungry for something new. When it comes to Silent Hill, this is a constant fact. Over the years we’ve been treated to new horror games or reruns of Resident Evil, but Silent Hill has either paled or given us less than ideal installments.

This is where a team of fans and modders come in who want to expand the world of Silent Hill through their project, Whispering Hills. This mod is built on the Fallout 4 engine, recreating the look and feel of the Silent Hill game, including familiar fog and unique monsters.

Whispering Hills has some chilling creatures, monsters that look familiar but often have a touch of innovation. The team has done a great job integrating their unique creations into the universe, and it’s really creepy; Monsters made of stripped muscles, creatures transformed into hideous bodysuits, and a few cameos from our favorite nurse and the puzzle that is Pyramid Head.

Built on Fallout 4, Mod Leader can provide incredible immersion with a world based on information. Lidar was used to scan Centralia, Pennsylvania, the inspiration for the film Silent Hill, and the mod uses that information to recreate the neighborhood seen in Whispering Hills.

Interestingly, this mod keeps a lot of content from Fallout 4 intact and blends it into the spooky world of Silent Hill. You still need to find your son Shaun, but you have to travel through the Whispering Hills to solve the mystery. You can see this as a true mash-up of the two games, bringing survival horror to Bethesda’s RPG.

This is a great mod for Silent Hill fans, giving us an original project and allowing us to relive the brilliance of the franchise while we wait for the next batch of Silent Hill games.
