Microsoft couldn’t let the fire burn for long and it was Xbox bosses who took the floor to announce an event next week to clarify the situation.
An event to explain Xbox strategy
It was Microsoft’s head of gaming, Phil Spencer himself, who spoke about X, earlier on Twitter, announcing an upcoming event later in the day during which clarity on the brand’s strategy would be revealed.
We hear you and we hear you. We have a Business Update event planned for next week, where we look forward to sharing more details with you about our vision for the future of Xbox. Stay connected.
The words are carefully chosen. In English, Phil Spencer speaks of a “business update” type of “event”, which means that something will change compared to the current situation. So it will be a question of Microsoft’s vision for the future of Xbox, needless to say we will be following all of this very closely.
Xbox has a big future too
If we don’t really follow Xbox news as closely as we do on Xboxygen, it’s true that we can sometimes get lost in the midst of everyone’s statements. If the speeches of Xbox leaders have not always been the most stable and clear in recent years, one thing remains certain, that the brand has to survive and establish itself in the global video game landscape, along with Tencent or Sony to name a few.
Until now, Xbox has been built around competition with PlayStation. First with the same weapons that are consoles and the creation of iconic franchises, then with the purchase of countless studios by Microsoft to monopolize games exclusive to its ecosystem.
But in all likelihood, the model will evolve. We were wondering this morning what exactly the Xbox strategy is and so the answers will be given next week, without details for the moment. If you haven’t been following the latest rumors, we’re talking about Hi-Fi RUSH on PS5 and Switch, Sea of Thieves on PS5 or the arrival of Starfield and Indiana Jones on PS5! Needless to say, the answers are eagerly awaited.
