At 8:30 a.m. on January 1, 57-year-old Rosaura Faria left the area where she lived. The woman had been with relatives the night before to celebrate the makeover of another relative, who had passed away.
She was preparing to return to her home in El Junquito, but according to witnesses, a subject stopped her on her way to the area, where many of the invaders live. The man shot her and the woman fell to the ground. Then he stood up, took several steps and fell again.
The subject wanted to shoot him again, but the action was stopped by the victim’s relatives, who surrounded him to protect her. The man fled the area.
Witness versions indicate that the man wanted to take away her belongings, and when she resisted, he shot her.
Others suggest they were seen arguing.
The woman was taken to the Miguel Perez Carreno Hospital, where she died at 4:00 a.m. the next day. According to the medical report, a bullet had pierced his left lung.
