Will there be a power outage? ERCOT issues announcement after cold weather forecast in Texas

Austin, Texas. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) issued an operational announcement of conditions for this Low temperature is predicted in the state in the coming week.

The announcement, abbreviated in English as OCN, is issued for an “extremely cold weather event expected for the ERCOT region from Monday, January 15, 2024 to Wednesday, January 17, 2024,” the notice said.

OCN is the first of four levels of potential “emergency” communications, according to the agency’s public guidelines.

ERCOT manages the Texas power grid and tracks its conditions, such as whether there are adequate power reserves. It also announces if a controlled blackout is expected.

On January 8, ERCOT released a statement on social network X (formerly Twitter). in this, The council says electricity grid conditions are expected to remain normal and there are adequate reserves.

If there is a blackout, it will be local and not due to the electrical grid, as the agency expected.

Temperatures will remain low in Texas due to a cold air mass.

From January 14, Sunday night, the state may experience cold.
