Call of Duty developers have recently been dealing with keyboard and mouse aiming cheats, a disaster that recently plagued Warzone and Modern Warfare 3.
The controversy between keyboard-mouse and controller use has existed for many years, but one advantage remains for controller players: aim assist.
With the advent of cross-platform gaming, the supremacy of the controller in CoD became clear, largely thanks to its pronounced aim support. However, software that emulates keyboard-mouse as controller controls has recently disrupted the franchise, providing objective support to keyboard-mouse gamers.

But today, the CoD developers have finally taken action.
was announced on Twitter account CoD Updates On January 16, the developers confirmed that RICOCHET, CoD’s anti-cheat system, will now detect software such as reWASD that enables keyboard-mouse aim assistance. “Our security detection systems now target players using tools to enable target assist with keyboard-mouse. Call of duty app will be closed if detected. Frequent use of these tools may result in additional account activity.“

Developers have been working for some time to ban third-party software and hardware, along with the infamous Cronus Zen discovered by RICOCHET since April 2023. And just like the Cronus ban, players caught repeatedly abusing this flaw can be banned.
Despite the dominance of the controller with aim assist, the keyboard-mouse allows for more precise aiming control, which is why this feature was never implemented, as it was intended to balance the game between the two.

Software capable of simulating keyboard-mouse inputs as controller commands may only be available on PC, but may also affect other games outside of CoD.
YouTuber JackFrags, who highlighted the software, pointed out that games with high aim assist, such as Apex Legends or The Finals, are also affected by software like reWASD.
