After being admitted to the emergency room at Figac Hospital, the 64-year-old from Lotois was sent home despite his pain. He died a few hours later at his home. A week after the tragedy, her family, deeply distressed and angry, decided to file a complaint.
Within hours, the lives of Patricia Joberton and her family, who lived in a lot near Figac, were turned upside down. On the night of 29 to 30 January, her husband Serge woke her up, overcome with pain. “It was 3 o’clock in the afternoon. He was not really well. He told me: ‘My legs are paralyzed’. That’s why he asked me to call the fire brigade because he was really bad,” says the emotional who waited for almost an hour. Help him reach his home in Lissac-et-Moret.
“He went to the Figek emergency room. His blood pressure was only 7. He was sweating profusely but was conscious and talking without problems.” Lotois, a 64-year-old retiree, with no special history except diabetes, is hospitalized. His wife, worried, waits for news and calls emergency services. “I was told he was resting. He did tests: an abdominal scan, blood tests and an ECG. At 11 a.m., he left with a prescription for painkillers and an appointment. You should take him to a neurologist. They couldn’t find anything for him. . I picked him up at the door. He was not at all well, he was walking but weak. His blood pressure was at 9. I was still surprised to let him go out like that.”
Back home, Serge Joberton’s condition does not improve as the day progresses. He especially complains of burning on his back. “We saw him suffering. We couldn’t leave him like this. We also decided that the next day we would go to Cahors Hospital or somewhere else to get another opinion…” explained his daughter, Melody Duperret. Unfortunately the night proved fatal for the Lotois man, who was found lifeless in his bed by his wife on the morning of January 31. This sudden disappearance has come as a shock to the family. “The doctor who came to the house to register the death couldn’t tell us exactly what he suffered. Maybe a heart attack… but this is just a guess,” regrets Patricia Joberton. Shocked, she did not want her husband to be autopsied. The funeral took place a few days later on Monday afternoon. A new very painful ordeal for the family which was not spared from the tragedies.
The anger today is compounded by sadness for those close to Serge Joberton, who are filled with doubts and unanswered questions. For her daughter Melody Duperret, the truth is urgent. Along with her mother, she approaches the hospital and wants to testify loud and clear to the misfortune that has befallen them. “How can we leave him at the hospital like this? I want to know what caused his death. We don’t even know which doctor saw him, no name on the prescription. Ticked… there was. Lack of professionalism. . It was not taken seriously,” lamented the girl who decided to lodge a complaint. She went to the Figac gendarmerie on Tuesday. “At least the hospital needs to be held accountable. I know there won’t really be any follow-up, but at least they’ll probably make things so this doesn’t happen to other people..”
