Roving Beyoncé was able to trust Cheikh Tibergin against Clermont. Ex-ASM fullback Jean-Dougère delighted while Benjamin Urdapiletta and Elivaretti Raca had more troubles.
Seth Tibergin
Bayonne fullback scored in this meeting against his former club. Placed posteriorly in front of the ASM, Cheikh Tibergin used his punching qualities to perfection and increased every ball he touched. Reliable under high balls, the Bayonne native was also solid in defense where he notably picked out Elivaretti Raka five meters from the Bayonne line. The former Clermont player delivered a solid game much to the delight of Jean-Dougère.
Federico Mori
The Italian center once again rose to the occasion against Clermont. Along with Guillaume Martok, Federico Mori showed his strength on numerous occasions and knew how to keep his teammates ahead with every ball. The Italian broke four tackles and was the ideal wrecking ball for the not-flamboyant, but solid Bayonne Aviron.
Remy Bordeaux
Fighting is at the forefront of all games, Bayo’s third line was all over Jean-Dogger. Used eight times in the first act alone, Remy Bourdeau scored the strongest effort to allow Beyoncé back into the game.
Aliveretti Raka
The Claremont winger was down in Bayonne. Overwhelmed defensively at times, Eliveretti Raka was unable to improve his off the ball as he usually does very well. Struggling greatly under the high ball, the former international was not enough of a threat to disrupt the Bayonne defence. In the second period, Raka was dropped by Chekh Tibergian and could do nothing to stop Bayonne’s second attempt.
Benjamin Urdapileta
Despite his inspired overhand kick, which sent Thomas Rozier over for a try, the Argentine fly-half didn’t have a good day at Bayonne. In the first half, Benjamin Urdapiletta was reprimanded by referee Mr. Nucci for complaining about the throw. Result: Penalty reversed against Clermontois. In the running game, “Urda” also didn’t weigh in and suffered like much of the heavily reworked three-quarter line. At the very end of the match, his little overhand kick was not as successful as it had been earlier in the match and only sealed a zero-point trip.
Uzair Qasim
Bayonne number 8 was not as impressive as usual. Served almost ten times by his teammates, Uzair Qasim was penalized after making several mistakes with the ball and crawling into the middle of the field. A whistle that can be costly.
