Government of Joe Biden Called the former president’s statements crazy and outrageous Donald Trump To support a Russian attack on NATO allies Those who are not up to date with their financial obligations.

Trump said this at a campaign rally in Conway, South Carolina on Saturday “will encourage” Russia to attack Any allies of the United States in military alliance with outstanding debts.

“One of the presidents of a great country stood up and said, ‘Well sir, if we don’t pay and Russia attacks us, will you protect us?'” the great man said before revealing his answer: “No, not me. Do. Protect them, in fact I will encourage (Russia) to do what they want. They have to pay their debt.”

Addressing his supporters, Trump (2017-2021) said he made his comments about Russia during a meeting of NATO leaders in response to a hypothetical question about the debtors.

White House spokesman Andrew Bates said President Biden has “restored our engagement and made us stronger in the world because he knows that the first responsibility of every commander in chief is to keep the American people safe.”

Without naming Trump, Bates added that it was “very serious and unconscionable for a murderous regime to encourage aggression against our closest allies.”

He added that these actions They “threaten American national security, global stability, and our domestic economy.”.

For his part, NATO Secretary General, Jens StoltenbergTrump was accused of “undermining the security” of the Atlantic alliance countries, after yesterday threatening not to protect members of the bloc who do not allocate enough money to collective defence.

“Any suggestion that allies will not defend each other undermines all of our security, including that of the United States, and puts American and European troops at greater risk,” Stoltenberg said in a press release.

He stressed, however, that NATO “remains ready and able to defend all allies” and warned that “any attack” against any of its members would be met with a “joint and forceful response” following the doctrine of defence. collective that is included in Article 5 of the Atlantic Treaty.

Stoltenberg also expressed his desire for the United States to remain a “strong and committed ally” of NATO. “Regardless of who wins the presidential election” in the country in November 2024, and for which Trump wants to be the Republican Party’s nominee again.

The president of the European Council, Charles Michel, also accused Trump this Sunday of “serving the interests” of Russian President Vladimir Putin and not bringing “more security or more peace to the world” with these statements.

Former President Trump, who is emerging as the Republican candidate for next November’s presidential election, has expressed doubts about the existence of NATO as well as aid to Ukraine, which is defending itself against an invasion launched by Russia in February 2022.

The United States has provided more financial aid to Ukraine than any other country, but that aid is currently frozen, conditional on Republicans in Congress taking a hard line on domestic immigration policies.
