The Under Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs of the United States, Brian Nichols, spoke again this Thursday about the violent acts against the leaders of the party of the presidential candidate Maria Corina Machado.
In an interview for NTN24 media, the US diplomat expressed concern over the failure of Nicolás Maduro’s government to comply with the Barbados Agreements. Likewise, he indicated that his country would evaluate reversing the easing of sanctions against Venezuela.
“It is a very difficult moment. He harasses officials of Vente Venezuela and other opposition parties, from campaign headquarters in various states. It is extremely worrying,” he said on the Custodian de Poder program.
Regarding the presidential election, the official assured that “we are not seeing progress towards competitive elections in Venezuela.”
