Compensation of LEC with very load program
The 10 teams of the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) are preparing to once again enter Summoner’s Rift Arena at the end of the day. The start of the third week of the Winter Split is set for 5:00 pm, which promises an exciting duel. Team BDS, led by Adam and off the back of two flawless weeks marked by an impressive five-game winning streak, aims to keep this winning momentum going. However, the journey for the Swiss team will not be easy, with matches against Team Heretics, a high-level team, as well as Rogue and Carmine Corp in the program, two teams that must surely win to preserve their chances of qualification. If Team BDS manages to maintain their level of performance from the past two weeks, they can maintain their lead in the standings with a record of 8 wins to 1 loss heading into the weekend. However, they will have to be on their guard in the face of matches that may prove more complicated than expected.
Currently in the lead, Team BDS reigns supreme, while the middle of the table is the scene of a fierce battle. In the 2023 LEC Season Finals, four teams including G2 Esports and Fnatic have the same record of 4 wins to 2 losses. Reigning European champions, Team Vitality were taken by surprise by a team that was more efficient and stronger than expected. For their part, Fnatic suffered a setback against the leader team BDS during their first meeting, but they were able to bounce back in style afterwards. Among the teams with a score of 4-2, we also find SK Gaming and Team Heretics. After a flawless start to the season, the German team faced some obstacles in the second week, surprising both a Heretics team on the rise and a BDS team in great shape. As for the Spanish team, the LEC veterans showed a good level of play during the second week and must now confirm this performance to try to get on the podium.
Behind this leading group, we find two teams with a balanced record of 3 wins to 3 losses: Team Vitality and MAD Lions. Aside from Team BDS’ outstanding performance, Team Vitality stands as a pleasant surprise at this end of the regular season. Despite a disastrous start to the season, the Abils achieved a remarkable turnaround with three consecutive victories, each acquired with grit and determination. In order to reach this weekend of competition, Team Vitality will have to capitalize on the momentum gained during the second week. The French team will face strong opponents, including SK Gaming, Team Heretics and MAD Lions. Although the odds are in their favor to qualify for the playoffs, Team Vitality will have to be at their best to achieve it.
At the bottom of the standings, the two teams have to win and can’t afford any more mistakes. Rogue, with a current score of 1-5, and Karmine Corp, on a six-game losing streak, are playing for their futures in this Winter Split. Their fate may also be sealed on the first day of the competition. By a quirk of the calendar, these two teams face each other precisely on this first day of week three. However, beyond their own match, Carmine Corp will also have to pay attention to the results of other teams, meaning their fate is not entirely in their hands. Even if the chances of qualifying for the playoffs look very slim, the win could give his supporters some comfort.
Matches of the week
In this final and third week of the regular season, the stakes are high in every game, with degrees of importance fluctuating based on past performance. Currently, certain matches are attracting special attention. The eyes of the community will certainly be glued to the three main matches of SK Gaming, which has a busy schedule, especially its clash against Carmine Corp where Nisky will face his friend Kameto’s team. The meeting between Team Heretics and Team BDS also deserves special attention, as it could play a key role in deciding the top spots on the podium from the start of this third week. Additionally, the match between Fnatic and G2 Esports is a close one to watch, fueling the grand finale of the LEC Season Finals, a matchup that neither team will take lightly.
The LEC Winter Split kicks off the third week of the 2024 regular season with Team Heretics vs. Team BDS at 5:00 p.m.; We will then continue with Vitality – SK Gaming, Fnatic – MAD Lions, GiantX – G2 Esports, and Karmine Corp – Rogue matches closing out this first day. As a reminder, matches are broadcast live and commented in French on the Twitch OTP channel as well as in English on the LEC channel.
