The League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) returns today at 5:00 PM with matches from the second week of the Winter Split 2024 regular season. SK Gaming will try to maintain its invulnerability, while Karmine Corp and Team Vitality will try. Catch up after their poor results in the first week.

10 teams from the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) will find their way to Summoner’s Rift at the end of the day. Week two of the Winter Split is set to begin today at 5:00 p.m., with the promise of some exciting showdowns. SK Gaming, led by Nisky and coming off a flawless first week with a 3-0 score, will be looking to continue this positive momentum. However, the German team faces a busy schedule, including clashes against two teams vying for a place on the podium. During this second week, SK Gaming will meet Team Heretics, GiantX and Team BDS. Keeping up their level of play from last week, SK Gaming could potentially come out on top with a 6-0 score at the weekend, but they should remain vigilant in the face of potentially tough matches.
Currently in the lead, SK Gaming dominates alone, while a fierce battle rages in the middle of the rankings. Five teams are 2-1, including 2023 LEC Season Finals finalists G2 Esports and Fnatic. The reigning European champions, outclassed by a Rogue team that was stronger and more combative than expected, came as a surprise. Fnatic, for its part, suffered a loss against an in-form SK team at the start of the winter season. Among the 2-1 teams, we also have two Iberian teams, MAD Lions KOI and Team Heretics, who started well, but must now confirm their level of play to stay in the competition. GiantX, on the other hand, didn’t have as successful a week as its peers, picking up just one win. Odoamne and his team face a tough week, with matches against SK Gaming and Fnatic, kicking off a weekend of clashes that will kick off against Karmine Corp.
The first week of the 2024 LEC Winter Split was particularly trying for French teams, Team Vitality and Carmine Corp, who failed to register a victory, ending the first week with a disappointing 0-3 score. The performance raises some concerns about Team Vitality’s ability to improve its overall level of play for the rest of the regular season. On the other hand, newcomers to the league Carmine Corp had a rough start, although they showed encouraging signs especially in their first matches. If we put aside this notable loss against MAD Lions KOI, which included Supa’s dominant Pentakill, Karmine Corp showed merit in the early game and during the laning phase. However, problems arise in the mid game, where the team often loses its advantage and control of the game.
Match of the week
The second week of the LEC Winter Split will be marked by a big event: the first clash between the two French teams. Team Vitality and Carmine Corp will meet this Sunday, January 21, around 9pm, for a match that promises to be captivating. This duel could represent a valuable opportunity for one of these two teams to get their first win of the season based on their performances in the previous day’s matches.
