I want to make it clear that I love The Last of Us Part 2 and completely agree with my colleague Kate and her 10/10 review of the recent remaster. But my goodness, what a difficult game to revisit. Not because it’s bad, far from it, but because it’s so dark.

Will The Last of Us Part 3 be a more optimistic game? Honestly, I don’t see how it could be darker. Although we don’t know much about it yet, we do know that Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann now has plans for a third game. He also believes that it will likely be the final chapter.

“The first game had this clear concept of a parent’s unconditional love for their child,” Druckmann said at the end of a recent documentary about the making of The Last of Us Part 2. The second game, when we had this idea of ​​justice at all costs, justice for the ones we love, we said to ourselves, ‘Here’s a clear concept and continuity from the first game around love’.
